We’d heard good comments about Chicory and made it to brunch. Andy welcomed us in we were soon gazing in anticipation at the southern themed offerings. We’re both from the south, not that we’re experts on southern cuisine, but we do know our biscuits, so we opted for the breakfast sandwich, which was so good. The house bacon is so flavorful, and c’mon, you gotta have pimento cheese! I went with grits and they were nice and thick without going all lumpy. Give it a go, and we’ll be back!

We are so fortunate to have the culinary marvel, Chicory in our area. My husband and I have fallen in gustatory love with this charming restaurant. Haven’t tried it yet? Get ready for a treat! The sheer talent of the chef is amazing! She can make cauliflower, beets, and squash taste like heaven! The meal we had there last week with our neighbors was the best meal of any restaurant we’ve visited in years! The staff is always friendly and attentive. We will be celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday there in a few weeks…so excited to see what’s on the ever changing menu!

Went for brunch on a very cold January afternoon. We ordered brunch cocktails, beignets, the chicken and waffles and the breakfast sandwich. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious with incredible flavor profiles - and the fluffiest grits I’ve ever had! The restaurant is beautiful, clean and well lit. Service was very friendly and fast for the most part, I only knocked one star off because it did take us awhile to get the bill and it wasn’t very busy at the time. Otherwise an exceptional experience and we will be returning/recommending to friends and family!

Chicory might be the best restaurant in Olympia. It's unexpected and unpretentious which lend to its appeal but result in a low profile that I'm always hoping doesn't diminish their success. Love the bar styling and bathroom wallpaper heavy with gold accents, and they have what feels like an excellent secret record collection. I appreciate the servers state aloud the 20% gratuity. Since the gratuity addition is standard, I'd love to see them tack it on the menu pricing and brag about paying their employees and refusing tips. The menu rotates seasonally, ingredients are fresh, dishes are unique and flavorful, all making it fun to stop by and try something new. A long time ago I used to grab an oatmeal cream pie to nibble while walking downtown errends-yum! Overall I recommend dinner over brunch, in large part because the brunch menu is bread heavy - personal preference. Today's brunch we tried the shrimp and grits, parsnip fritters with chili yogurt, beignets with cranberry-pistachio-persimmon(?) compote, sunchoke salad, coleslaw, and the gin-absinthe cocktail. Grits were super fluffy and filling and the shrimp and leek topping was delicious. Parsnip fritters had an excellent texture, smooth, soft and creamy on the inside, perfectly crisp on the outside. The chili yogurt was good with it. Overall not terribly flavorful, but the texture kept us grabbing more. Beignets were dense rather than airy, well cooked, good flavor, and the fruit spread was fresh fall and wonderful, my favorite part, but mostly because I only like a bit of bread. I passed on the cookie crumbles. The sunchoke salad was the least exciting but was beautiful and felt like eating sunflowers in an assortment of textures, which was fun. I love coleslaw so was curious about theirs. It was good, creamy but not overdressed. Not terribly unique. Cocktail was good with flavors of licorice and lime and nicely formed egg white, beautiful presentation. Historical favorites: On the current menu, delicious egg bake with very good bread, nice spice from the harissa, and wonderful squash, paired with roasted carrots which are excellent, nice smoke, sauce, and I LOVE the crunchy buckwheat. Had my first ever negroni here last summer and have been chasing the flavor since. Had dinner with friends recently and shared family style. The three of us loved each of the 5 dishes we split and the consensus on which was the favorite was "yes". Roasted cauliflower heavy on the beets, rye pasta with braised beef, ahi tartare, beef carpaccio, and chocolate pavlova. The carpaccio was sliced a little thick which I sympathize with cuz that's tricky, but it was so good. And eat the pasta attentively or the thinly sliced beef gets lost. The squash mousse served with the pavlova is wonderful with excellent texture, not too sweet, and not too rich. The sablefish is oily, by nature not preparation, and it might be the only dish I wouldn't recommend. The greens it was served with cut the oiliness pretty well. The smoked potatoes are great. The addition of crisp celery and horseradish are very nice. Finally, they make a great mocktail.

I have eaten here several times, for dinner and brunch and the food is always excellent. This is my favorite restaurant in Olympia. They have excellent service and atmosphere. The owner and head chef won Chopped on the Food Network. I would highly recommend anything on the menu that rotates seasonally.

Great experience here! Felt like I was in an episode of Top Chef or something trying their awesome, inventive dishes and tasty mocktails! Parsnip fritters; rich and delicious shrimp and grits with iberico ham; sable fish in a aromatic moat of savory caramelized onion broth; a beautiful salad with tahini dressing, crispy chickpeas, and lots of crisp radiccio; and a super interesting dessert with hay ice cream! Noticed that in the menu they have gluten free and vegan options. The service was top notch! We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. During my meal my napkin fell off my lap onto the floor and before I even noticed our server came over and with a sweet smile discreetly put a new one in the table and scooped the dropped one off the floor. I have a food allergy and they were very accommodating and understanding. I came for the fancy food, but I will return because of the hospitality.

This restaurant is unassuming from the outside, but has a modern and inviting atmosphere on the inside. The menu has some rather creative dishes featuring local ingredients and an emphasis on sustainability. Came here for brunch, and the group got a couple of appetizers to share plus individual entrées. Definitely wasn't expecting to find beignets in this part of the country, but here it was and it was delicious -- exceptionally light and fluffy! The creamy nettle and olive dip had a richness and depth that balanced out the fresh vegetables. And the egg of the French omelette was true to its name.

One of the best meals I’ve had out in years. We were in Olympia for a concert down from seattle and this place puts any of the nice restaurants we go to in seattle to shame. For the price the portions are actually generous! cocktails are affordable, delicious and inventive. This place is operating on a level I really didn’t even know was possible in current restaurant culture. You’ll leave happy, full, and wanting to go back asap.
